28 & Cooking
As is tradition, I'm back with another Birthday Blog! You can find an archive of my previous birthdays blogs here.
I'd like to take a moment to reflect on some of the big milestones from the past year, and more excitingly, look ahead to what's to come. And today I have a really exciting glimpse of the future for you- but first, let's review the past year.
Milestones & Memories
It's hard to write this without thinking of my last birthday blog, which was delayed by several months following a jam-packed summer, and then my Mom's car accident.
A little less than a year out, I'm really glad to say my Mom had made a nearly full recovery. In fact, as of writing, she just headed out for her own birthday trip. She's driving down the California coast, and visiting the redwoods and all her favorite little mountain towns. She loves taking photos, so this year I gave her my favorite camera. I'm excited to see what she captures with it!
Speaking of travel, I've done my fair share. I visited LA twice, and stayed a week in Chicago for work. I've been going to more conventions lately, so if you're in the LA area, and attending a horror con, keep an eye out for Bloody Disgusting!
I also spent a week with my extended household family (my fiance, our two roommates, my sister, and best friend) on a lake in Arkansas. We saw some horse races, cooked a lot, and even caught some fish!
And just a couple weeks ago, our house hosted our "Summerween" party! Complete with matching camp counselor outfits, lots of fake blood, and appropriately spooky summer costumes.

On a parallel timeline, I co-created a show, Poe: Evermore. It's a supernatural historical fiction, inspired by the real-life accounts of Edgar Allen Poe, and his macabre stories. Last year, we launched Dead Space: Deep Cover, and then in April we became a Webby Finalist for Best Sound Design/Original Score. And, of course, SCP Archives returned with another bombastic season!
So, with the last year summed up (though I'm sure I'm missing some big highlights that I've lost in all the commotion), let's move on to what's next...
Future, Foretold!
Recently, we began working on The Dead Season 2 and Mayfair Watchers Society Season 3. I'm incredibly excited to be returning to both of these shows. Leading The Dead is Rissa Montanez and Veronica California, two of my long-time collaborators. They have some really exciting ideas for this season, and I can't wait to help bring them to life!
If you're all caught up on Mayfair Watchers Society, then you know that last we saw, Mayfair was in a rut- literally! A giant sinkhole opened up in the middle of the city, and the town's infrastructure is crumbling. This is playing havoc with the local "wildlife," and when we return, you'll see just how much chaos Pan Continental caused. This next season will also introduce some new and esoteric gribblies (monsters) we've never seen before. They're meaner, the found footage is grainier, and the next season is coming Very Soon™. Charging ahead as always are our incredible showrunners Kale Brown and Klaudia Amenabar. I'm really looking forward to the next season!
Flopping back to my personal life, the next big milestone in my life comes this October. I'm getting married! It still doesn't feel quite real, but little pieces are all coming together. Syd's dress came in, our venue is locked, we just finished paying off catering, it's all matriculating...
Which brings us to the final future foretelling. For the last year and some change, I've been working on a new project. It's a bit more than just another podcast. It's also an internet horror... Experience? Multimedia storytelling? I'm not sure quite which words to use, but I think (I hope) you'll love it. If you enjoy all our found footage, monster sounds, and horror stories, then I think you'll like this too.
It's coming soon, hopefully early next year, but I'm not rushing it. As soon as it's ready, we'll share it with you. It's called American Abyss.

In Review
This last year has been busy. This next year will be busier. There's a couple big projects coming up in the next six months that I haven't even mentioned here, but you'll probably see soon!
I feel incredibly fortunate to be working my dream job, creating spooky things for Bloody Disgusting. And I feel incredibly fortunate that so many folks tune into our podcasts, read these newsletters, and keep our shows going. I couldn't do this without you.
Thank you for another fantastic year. Here's to the next one!
