Season 10 Begins!

Season 10 Begins!

Hello and welcome to SCP Archives: Season 10

It's always incredibly humbling to reach the premiere of another season. And Season 10 comes at a fortuitous time, as in just a couple months, in October, I'll be celebrating a decade of podcasting. Can you believe that? I've been making audio horror for over a third of my life.

In 2016 I was a broke college kid who listened to too much Welcome to Nightvale, and The Black Tapes, two shows my little sister told me about. And I had the very silly idea to make my own podcast - After all, I was a theatre major, I had plenty of actor friends, and I worked for the student newspaper, which meant I had access to the campus' radio booth! After lots of trial and error, and crumbled up scripts, I held a little audition for all my friends and we made Lake Clarity. A silly little podcast about some friends camping in the woods when horrifying things happen. I think it still holds up? Honestly I've been too scared to go back to listen.

Lake Clarity premiered early in 2017, after months of hard work, late nights, and lots of stress.

Over the last year, I've been fighting with my writing and creative drives. Despite being older and wiser, I can't figure out how young me was able to make all these things, while working, and taking classes, and trying to have a social life. And honestly, it's a miracle that young me was able to propel me into the career I have now.

But after sitting down, and really thinking about it, the answer is so simple. I did it because it was fun.

Ten years later, I'm still having fun. I love making this show, I love our team, I even love being stressed about this show. A lot is changing in the world, and in my personal life, and I'm never certain what the future will bring. But for now, I'm enjoying the ride, and I hope you are too.

New Season Makeover!

Situationally Comedic Persons wrapped up recently, if you haven't binged through Season 9, I strongly encourage you to check it out! It's a silly little sit com about working at the Foundation, and it was lovingly made by Giancarlo Herrera and Hannah Schooner. They did some incredible work, and I can't wait to work with them again!

And now, we look forward to Season 10. With every new season comes a full makeover! We got new logos, new music, and new episode art! So let's dive right in. I like alternating between analog and digital themes every season, and last season we leaned really hard into the black and white photo-copier feel. Valdevia made some really incredible photocopier horror images for us too!

SCP-799: "Carnivorous Blanket” and SCP-1048: “The Builder Bear”

Which meant this season had to be digital - but our last digital themed season also had a retro 1980's feel, which meant we had to jump into the future! Something modern, or near sci-fi, clean, and inspired by artists like ANTIREAL. And Valdevia, as he always does, knocked it out of the park. Here's a sneak peak at some of the upcoming episode covers

Coming soon...

But a clean new cyber aesthetic wouldn't be complete without music to match- And that's where our dear Mattie roi Berger comes in. Check out our new theme song!

None of this show would be possible without the hard working folks behind the scenes. Please give Daisy McNamara, Eduardo Valdes-Hevia, Mattie roi Berger, Brad Colbrook, and the rest of our incredible cast & crew a big round of applause for all their hard work getting up to this point, and on launching Season 10!

And of course, thank you for believing in our show, tuning in every week, and supporting the show. I mean it when I say none of this would have been possible without you.

If you haven't already, you can listen to the first episode of Season 10, SCP-8987:" Brook Runs Red" now!

Keep havin' fun.
